If you’re reading this, chances are that you’re either a San Francisco resident or an admirer of the place. Perhaps you’ve been to the city and are planning to go back again. Or perhaps you’ve visited, read about, or even heard of the city, but don’t quite know where to start. Either way, it’s a pretty cool place.
First, let me say that I don’t know a lot about the culture of San Francisco, but I can tell you this: it has a lot of history.
San Francisco has been a city for almost a century, but its more than that. San Francisco is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the United States. Its about a third Native American, a quarter Asian, a quarter African American, and a quarter Hispanic American. There are also a lot of different religions and cultures represented among its population.
But unlike many other cities, San Francisco has no official ethnic diversity. The city is mostly non-Hispanic or non-Latino, and the only major non-white population is the large number of migrant workers living in the city.
San Francisco is also the only major city in the United States that officially declares itself a melting pot of cultures and religions… though it seems to have a growing population of people who don’t think that way. According to a 2010 Pew Research Center report, the city of San Francisco had the 5th most diverse population in the country in 2010, right behind New York City, and ahead of London, San Jose, and San Antonio.
It’s worth pointing out that San Francisco has been a major center of the world’s art, music, and fashion, and has a population of over 800,000, so you’d think that would make it a vibrant, progressive city. In fact, San Francisco is one of the poorest cities in the country.
San Francisco has always been a place where the city government is a little bit more progressive and inclusive than most, but it’s definitely not a progressive city. The city government has been under the domination of progressives for decades. In the San Francisco city government there are progressive members of the board of supervisors, the city manager, and the city auditor, and there is a progressive member on the city council.
San Francisco is not a progressive city, it is not progressive at all, but it is a very progressive state. There is a progressive city government in San Francisco.

It could be because San Francisco is not progressive. It could be because San Francisco is just as progressive as it is. It could also be that San Francisco is a progressive city.
