My friends and I were having a discussion about the military and what it’s like to be a part of such an important institution. I asked him what he thought it would be like to be stationed in a base, and he responded with, “I’d be in the kitchen, and I’d be eating, cooking, and cleaning.
I think that’s pretty good. It’s about as close to being on base as you can get without being an actual soldier.
So in a way, if you’re really a newbie, you might be like a guy who knows that his job is to clean the base’s kitchen, but he doesn’t really know what he’s doing.
The military is the closest thing to a home, since its the closest thing to being a real-life version of a movie set. It’s definitely not the same thing as a movie set. You see the same things, but the actual day-to-day living of the military is very different than a movie set. In real life, the military is a very small community, very tightly knit, with a strong sense of camaraderie.
