I know it’s late to be talking about this topic, but I am so excited to share that I have gotten my friend, Kelly, back into the local moving industry. We recently moved into a beautiful new house in the suburbs of Minneapolis. We were very happy with our new home and wanted to move right on in. We were very busy with work, but I was so happy to get back into the local moving industry.
After a few months of living in our new home, we were ready to start a new adventure. Kelly and I had been talking about getting into the business for some time, and it just took a while for the idea to click. One of the first things we decided on was that we would go local. So we started looking at some local moving services in our area.
We ended up choosing The Local Moving Company because they were very easy to work with, they had a great reputation, and they were relatively cheap. We ended up in happy agreement with them. But then our local moving company called to say that there wasn’t a job for us and asked us to call back in a few weeks. We were bummed, but we didn’t want to be rude. So we called back and asked them a whole bunch of questions about the company.
The first question seemed to be where they got their name, which was the most important question to me. The second question was about how long they’ve been in business, which was good because that was the second thing we were looking for in a company. The third question was about how many people we actually moved for them, which seemed to be the most important question in our minds. The fourth question was how much we paid them, which seemed to be the most important question in our minds.
The local moving company that we chose was Move4Cities. They were able to match our budget pretty well and have a really easy checkout process. Their rates were pretty reasonable and they seemed to deliver everything we needed in a timely manner.

The move itself was the most stressful part of moving. The biggest task was finding a good and affordable moving company. I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’ve never had to deal with a company that would allow me to drop off my stuff before I go. It’s not that the moving company was terrible, it’s just that they were the worst. I was moving on a budget, and I wanted them to be the best. They started by telling me that they didn’t have the right price for the same items, then they took my money and told me it was free until I made a payment. Then they charged me $150 for the furniture I was moving, then they charged me an additional $150 for the same items I was moving.
A moving company will usually charge a fee to unload your stuff, and they can charge you extra for extra items. One of the main reasons that moving companies should be taken seriously is because they will be the ones who actually unload (and unload properly) your stuff, not the other way around. Some moving companies will charge a flat fee for moving your stuff, while others will allow you to pay them a flat fee for the unloading.
