To create a movie trailer, you take a photo of a subject and put it on a canvas. You then use Photoshop to cut out a portion of the photo and use it to cut out the parts of the canvas that you don’t need. The end result is a small canvas with a few different parts in it. The only way to get the canvas flat is to use a digital camera. That’s why the film version has such a different feeling and theme than the trailer.

Well, it does. I’ve seen lots of digital art that, while it looks great on the screen, feels like it was just cut out of a magazine. But we’re doing it for a reason. A reason that is easily apparent. In the trailer, a portion of the photo is cut out at the top, leaving the white part. In the film version, the same part is cut out only to the left.
Now that we know this is a film, it seems like it would be hard to make a digitally tinted part of the photo. But not if you’re doing this to a film. It would probably look better on a computer screen (or even an iPad, if you’re playing with the right app). It’s a trick I learned from a friend of mine, a talented photographer.
