My wife, Kathy, and I have always had an agreement that we would only have one remodel in the entire home. It was a fairly simple agreement, but we can’t say that we didn’t enjoy every minute of it. This time around, we wanted to make sure that there was always something in that unfinished basement that we could get our hands on to make it as great as possible.
We have been remodeling our basement for about 6 months now, and our current remodel was a little more than half finished. We have a lot of areas that we do not like so we started cleaning up the ones we did like. It was always a fun process.
One of the first things you have to do when you’re remodeling is clean out your basement. That means emptying all the empty containers and then moving anything that is currently in your basement to the back of the house. Because your basement is not just a place where you can store items, it also has a lot of potential for being a mess.
This is one of the first things we did after we had our basement remodeled. It was a bit of a challenge because in order to make the basement look clean, we had to keep moving things around. There were a lot of glass shards and broken bottles littered throughout the basement when we were finished. To be honest, I feel like we did this because we wanted to see how much dirt there was in the basement.
We also tried to use the space as an extra storage space for our large appliances. For example, we got some drywall, plastic shelves, and a small table. The walls were a bit too thick and the ceiling too low for us to use the space for shelves. We also spent a lot of time working on a shelving system that would organize the large appliances into easy-to-access sections.
The basement of our home is basically a concrete slab with a few joists in it. The entire area is covered in dry wall so that our appliances don’t have to go anywhere, which is great because we rarely use it. The basement walls are thin and the drywall is thin, which makes it easy to see where we need to put appliances in order to keep them organized. The basement has some nice little niches to store things like refrigerators and electrical appliances.
The basement also has a little room where we store the dry-erase boards for our toaster oven. It’s perfect for storing things like this because you can just tuck them into the corner of the space.
The problem is that we had a lot of cabinets in the basement and the dry-erase boards didn’t stick in a lot of them. So we went back to the dry-erase boards to keep them organized, but ended up having to take out a lot of the cabinets and have to remove a bunch of dry-erase boards.
The good news is that if you go to the basement to put your new cabinets in, you can take out the dry-erase boards and have new cabinets ready to go. That way, you don’t have to have to go back to the basement to grab the old cabinets and put them back in.
In general, there are no hard and fast rules about which dry-erase boards to remove and which ones to keep. The only thing is that it depends on what you want to achieve. If you just want to reorganize your cabinets, you can leave the dry-erase boards on them. If you want to keep your cabinets organized and have them with you all the time, you can remove the dry-erase boards.
