It was a pretty big project when I started it, but I was able to finish it within one year. I like to think I would’ve finished it in a more reasonable time frame. I guess I should just thank the Lord for that. The basement I’m currently in is the second most challenging basement I’ve ever been in.
The basement was a great place to grow up. I like to think that I would’ve ended up in the basement of my dad’s house if I hadn’t been put in the basement by my mom. It would’ve been a good place to grow up.
Well, a lot of people who have basement remodels do it because of the money or for the fun of it. The beauty of a home remodel is that it can be done without much money. With that said, I have no idea how long I might be able to last without money. The basement remodels I have done have been pretty extensive, so I would imagine it would take quite a while to get back to normal, but I have no idea when that might be.
If you’re going to do a basement remodel, you really should have a plan for it, because I’ve never seen a home that doesn’t need some major work. My mom is currently putting in a new kitchen and the bathroom. She’s starting with a new cabinet, some new cabinets, and new plumbing. It’s also going to get a new garbage disposal and the water heater that she’s replacing. She’s also looking at all of the electrical work she needs to do.
I think a lot of the people going through the basement are going to want to add a kitchen, so its going to be a little hard to tell exactly how much work that includes. The bathroom, on the other hand, could be simple, but I dont think that is the case, as a lot of the work will be new plumbing.
Yeah, a lot of the work on the basement is going to be the plumbing, and a lot of the work is going to be new electrical work. The cabinet is going to be a little trickier than the rest, as there are a couple new ones in the works and the old ones are going to be torn down. The new electrical work is going to be a lot less daunting though since the old electrical work has been replaced.
the most difficult part for a new homeowner is finding a contractor with experience with plumbing and electrical work. Asking around, you’ll quickly find out that most contractors that are going to fit the bill for the job are not going to have any previous plumbing or electrical work experience. Unless of course they are specifically searching for a contractor that has either a bachelor’s degree or experience with plumbing and electrical work, then they can find someone who will.
So if you are in the market for a contractor, first of all, try talking to a licensed plumber. This is a must. Second, it is a good idea to have a few pictures of the work before contracting with them. This is because if you don’t have pictures of the work, there’s a good chance you will not even be able to get them installed. This is why I always put up a picture of the work I am about to do in my blog.
I think the last thing you want to do when you are looking for a plumber is to ask them questions. It is better to let the plumber do the work, and then you can see the results.
I remember that many years ago I was in the process of refinishing our basement and needed to know if I was going to be able to fit a toilet in the area that would be on the other side of the wall. I called the plumber who I had seen work on various other projects, and asked him if he could show me pictures of the bathroom he had previously installed, so the cost would be reasonable. He agreed and showed me the pictures of the work he had done.
